Data & Artificial Intelligence Strategy

To build comprehensive foundations for a robust AI ecosystem in Brunei Darussalam.

Strategic Principles

Adopt intentionally, temper the hype

Brunei is in a position of strength to explore and adopt technology intentionally as the nation does not typically pioneer/disrupt technological trends as opposed to following it. Technological hype can be side-tracked to explore and adopt high impact use-cases at mitigated risks. With proper control, there will be reduced costs and higher impact with technological adoption vital to ensure Brunei remains prosperous and competitive in the regional and global landscape.

Preserve MIB

Brunei has strong history that informs not just the day-to-day lives but is also a strategic asset to create bridging ideas and a united front. MIB is a stability force within the country that keeps the economy relatively peaceful. This provides a favourable foundation for technological advancement and growth without key concerns.

Stronger with Collaboration

As a small country, Brunei is in a unique position where the culture for collaboration can foster tremendously. Each agency is required to allocate resources efficiently which further drives the need to reduce overlap and duplicate work. Collaboration needs to be tempered with strategy and communications. Left untampered, initiatives can spiral that will require additional effort to be re-aligned in future timeline.
